The Hario Buono Kettle 700 ml is a Japanese classic that has been a favourite of specialty coffee lovers for years. This silver kettle is designed specifically for manual brewing – whether that means a Chemex, a V60 dripper or an Aeropress.
Its narrow, curved spout gives you complete control over the flow of water. You can fine-tune both the pouring speed and the direction of the water, which is important for an even extraction. When the water flows evenly over the coffee, the result tastes better. It is simple physics.
The Buono is made from durable stainless steel, and its design is minimalist Japanese design at its best. No needless gimmicks, just function and beauty. In 2009 this kettle won the World Tea Expo award for best new product, and it is still just as good.
This 700 ml model is perfect for brewing smaller amounts of coffee. The practical fill volume is about 500 ml, which is plenty for a couple of cups. The kettle is light to handle, weighing only 450 grams empty.
The dimensions are compact: 11,5 cm in diameter, 14 cm tall and 25,5 cm wide from handle to spout. It fits nicely in a smaller kitchen or coffee corner.
Important: this model is not suitable for induction hobs. It works on gas and electric hobs, but if you have induction, take a look at Hario's larger 1,2 litre model, which is induction compatible.
The Buono Kettle is an investment that lasts for years. Its stainless steel does not wear out, the design does not age and the pouring precision does not change. If you want to improve the taste of your manually brewed coffee, this is the easiest upgrade.
Omid uses this every day at the roastery for test brews. It is a simple tool, but one that really works. There is no reason to complicate things.
